The Changing our World Foundation is a foundation set up by Guiding Light Assembly Church to fulfil its vision of ‘building leaders and changing our world’. The first project of the foundation is to rehabilitate Obalende in Lagos and this involves 7 key areas:
The intention is to vastly improve the lives of the inhabitants of Obalende and thereby encourage others to adopt other communities in a similar way.
Website
The website for the project is to provide an information window for participants, supporters and potential donors. It should give an overview of the project, some insight into Obalende, highlight latest news & developments and provide some source of revenue for the project if possible.
Look & Feel
Particularly because the site belongs to a foundation set up by a church, it is important that the site has a professional feel to it even though it belongs to a charitable foundation. This is to encourage viewers to see the foundation as properly run and the project as solid and worthwhile. The fact that the foundation was set up by a church should be downplayed so references to Christianity should not be included in the look and feel of this site.
One of the key goals of the website has to be to give the viewers a good feel of what Obalende is like and an understanding of the challenges of that community. One way of doing this might be to design a site which incorporates a lot of photography throughout the site. The emphasis of the photography and also the site should be on the people of Obalende.
The church’s corporate colours are yellow (almost gold) and blue. Black, white and a little red can also be used on this website as many of the foundation materials produced so far have been in black, white and yellow. The foundation has a logo which will be provided to you in due course.
The site should have a clean, spacious feel to it but this should be balanced by the warmth coming through in the photos of the people involved. Key themes for the site are transformation, restoration and hope.
