A set of identical twin brothers, born in Accra Ghana in the early 70’s but are Nigerians from Bayelsa State. Their names are Anthony Akpos and Andrew Andos Dixon, but are popularly known as MAMUZEE….. The African pride.
They are Musicians, Presenters and Models. Married to a set of identical twin sisters called Mary Nkem and Martha Ebele Dixon. They schooled in Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. The name Mamuzee means “Twins” in the Izon dialect from Bayelsa State, they have a professional 12 man band called the “ Ha Hu La Tribe” meaning the victory tribe, their kind of music is called “ AFRO-KOSSA” which is a fusion of Afro beat, Makossa and African jazz.
Their musical career started professional in 1999 when they released their debut album titled our time with hit track BOBO, which was a huge success within and outside Nigeria, which also won them, so many accolades and the name “Te African Pride”. ARISTO, which is their second album, is currently on sale nationwide.
They also produce and present a programme on Africa’s biggest television station NTA, called Sounds of Africa, their style of music, dance and performance as been appreciated by many these feats gave them an award for the best performing and entertaining artiste in Nigeria 2003/2004 by Grand Hotel Asaba and NTA Network. They just concluded a tour in Europe namely Holland, France, Germany and Milan. Myke records just signed them on; they are nominated as the Best Traditional Music Africa by Kora is South Africa, currently on a project- Reachout to Niger Delta Youths ( RON’ DY), with the theme “ Aristo- Don’t turn our Universities to Brothels”.
